關於Oracle RAC 與Oracle RAC One Node 的買法與授權花費理解

假設現在有兩台x86主機：2 node RAC , 每個node 有2個CPU,  4 Cores (X86 CPU factor為0.5)

則基本之費用:

(參考oracle所公告的price list http://www.oracle.com/us/corporate/pricing/technology-price-list-070617.pdf)

Enterprise edition ($47,500 core licensing processor)

Real Application Clusters($23,000 core licensing processorr)

Real Application Clusters One Node ($10,000 core licensing processor)

如果用Oracle RAC + EE edition的計價方式為:

1.       Enterprise Edition: US$47,500 (per processor) x 4(Core) x 2 (Processors) x 0.5 (Factor) x 2 (Nodes) =  US$  380,000

2.       Real Application Clusters: US$23,000 (per processor) x 4 x 2 (Processors) x 0.5 (Factor) x 2 (Nodes) = US$  184,000

3.       Total: US$ 380,000 + US$  184,000 = US$ 1128,000  *30(台幣匯率) 約為 1692萬元

如果改用Oracle RAC One Node + EE edition的算法就是:

1.       Enterprise Edition: US$47,500 (per processor) x 4(Core) x 2 (Processors) x 0.5 (Factor) x 1 (Nodes) =  US$  190,000

2.       Real Application Clusters One Node: US$10,000 (per processor) x 4 x 2 (Processors) x 0.5 (Factor) x 2 (Nodes) = US$  80,000

3.       Total: US$ 190,000 + US$ 80,000 = US$ 270,000  *30(台幣匯率) 約為 810萬元

Oracle RAC + EE edition vs Oracle RAC One Node + EE edition，使用 Oracle RAC One Node + EE edition大約節省一半的license.

但Oracle RAC One Node + EE edition 僅適用於Active-Standby架構，不適用於雙機備援的方式

而且一年僅允許十天的DB 服務的failover(一年不能在standby 跑超過十天(累計)) 否則要加買所有節點的EE license

*簡言之 在Active-Standby 的架構底下(Redhat Cluster/ IBM HACMP/ Veritas Cluster/ Sun Cluster)允許一年累積10天的failover切換 , Oracle DB license只要買單台

而在 Replication Solution(DG Standby 、3-party CDP/ Mirroring)的架構下, 一年允許最多四次切換、每次切換不得超過兩天

ten-day-per-year rule allowing the database to be active without additional cost for ten days on a nonlicensed node

upon database relocation.
